CLARK FREEPORT -- A semiconductor company here was named Central Luzon's top exporter by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Phoenix Semiconductor Philippines Corporation remained the top exporter in the region with exports totaling to US$ 2.912 billion, which represents more than half of Central Luzon's export value.

Data from the One Stop Export Documentation Center (OSEDC) showed that the electronics sector in Central Luzon generated US$ 4.22 billion or 74 percent of the total export value for the region in 2014.

This was followed by the machinery and transport equipment and apparatus sector at US$ 688.43 million or 12.08 percent.

Export of garments or textiles earned US$ 220.89 million or 3.87 percent while metal manufacture earned US$ 130.72 million or 2.29 percent.

In 2014, the electronics sector export value in the region grew by 27.77 percent while the machinery and transport equipment sector went up by 2.71 percent.

DTI-Central Luzon Director Judith Angeles said that Clark and Subic exports remained robust with at least a 1.5 percent increase -- US$ 5.61billion in 2013 and US$ 5.70 billion in 2014.

DTI-Central Luzon also said the export of electronic equipment and parts remained the highest dollar earner for all products from Central Luzon for 2014.

Memory Integrated Circuits (MICs), Large Scale Integrated (LSI) chips, electrical appliances, and machineries formed the bulk of exports in the region last year, said Angeles.
